Nah!!! You're just 20 years too late for it to be a "original" idea :)

But it is still a very cool one.

....it would HaVE to either be a German idea or a Southern U.S. one, to have bullet shell casings for dot inlays.

The shell casing was my idea. A chunk had been shot out of the neck in a Texas barroom fight. I had located the bass, Uwe bought it and his luthier fixed it. Uwe asked for suggestions for the filled-in area, and I suggested that the shell casing would be appropriate.

Yeah, I recall the bar room shootout and hole thru the neck discussion.

Definitely a cool solution for the repair.

Also looks like great work and a well matched patch.

Doesn't really matter that Hamer previously did something similar 20 years ago for Johnny Colt.

The back story on the Gibson with the real bullet hole is what makes that one cool as hell.

...and any University of Florida Gators fans will LOVE that color scheme:

And even though I live in Knoxville, I'm not a frothing Vols fan. I LIKE the colors and the pickups; they probably add enough weight to that SG body to make it almost playable for me.  ;)

I'VE GOT IT!!  Gene Simmons "Tribute" !  Fill the pickup routes, sand the top, skin it with some maple veneer, circumcise the head stock, cheap mudbucker, black paint and a little white pinstriping and, voila', you have $1000.00 bass for sale!  ;)  Plus you have your case.

Love it...except the price would be at least $1500!

Good point Dave!  Carlos's business is growing - maybe I could be his "idea man" for 20% off the top!

I could probably get Paul Stanley to do it.

Thanks, Buzz.  I have my hands full already with random FB people telling me what pickguard to use/not use.

Didn't they read my kindergarten report card?  "Does not play well with others."
