My first Motorhead tour shirt I mentioned earlier in this thread coins it... Born To Lose - Live To Win...

Oh my, they shouldn't allow him on tour in that state, he's either sedated or in pain (or both), it shows in his bass playing too, terrible. I don't want to see Lemmy die on stage or in a tour bus, I want him to say good bye at home, surrounded by some people he likes, and fondling one of his beloved SS daggers. Gigs like that do a disservice to the Motörhead legacy. That band never wanted to be feeble.

Here's a statement on the Motörhead facebook page earlier today:

Having lung infections and not being able to cure it quickly is not a sign of a sprightly health (or age), I have to say. I don't find anything reassuring in the above statement. It says: "A 70-year-old is touring with pneumonia becaue he is unreasonable." "The road" is not the place where you cure pneumonia. :-\

The road is a place to die with your boots on, I'm afraid, mein freund...

What's so glamorous about dying in some dingy Motel where they don't even know who you are?

Nothing... ask JAE...

For some, it's all they know, and life ceases to have any meaning when they are not on the stage, or between them... Bob Seger wrote all about it, quite succinctly... Lemmy's a musical road warrior, and always has been, and always will be... no matter what...

Regardless of how he may feel, IMHO it's foolish to go out on the road again so soon.

Not sure. To use JAE as an example, was he a badass for dying in a hotel room surrounded by mountains of coke and a gaggle of hookers, exactly on his terms, or was he an overgrown loser living out his teenage fantasies with no real friends or family left to surround himself with?

Lemmy seems not to have gone in for the opulent wannabe country squire splendour that a lot of rock stars went in for. He has a dingy flat full of Nazi paraphernalia somewhere in LA and spends his down time slumped in a corner of the Rainbow. No mansions, no rooms full of rare Rickenbacker basses and no duck ponds. I guess he knows nothing else but to keep touring and keep moving on, JD and Coke (other type) in hand?

I prefer dying in bed with someone who is not getting paid to spend time with me (be it a hooker or a nurse). I'm old-fashioned that way.

He's switched to Vodka & Orange Juice because he's sure that's much healthier...     (true story)

Lemmy has nothing to prove. He LOVES the road and playing his music. He's had plenty of opportunity in his life to "settle down" and hasn't. Obviously he is doing what makes him happy. I envy that.

Listen to the lyrics of the song he wrote for Slash's first solo album, Dr Alibi

whenever I think about Lemmy passing they pop into my head, i think they are sung from the heart,

If anyone has earned the right to go like  Tommy Cooper  (if he wants to) it's Lemmy.

Dave W

I don't claim to know what Lemmy is thinking. I just hope it's his own decision to go on with the tour rather than being pushed by bandmates, promoters or debt holders.
