any one in here have one or have had one?  looking for something at or under 300 dollars for a used one.  So far I've found Ibanez AGB 140, Ibanez AGB200, and for just over 300 I've seen Jay Turser JTB-134's
I'm not sure if I want to go with a long or short scale.
Any others I should be looking into for that price?  Any thoughts on the ones I've mentiones?

I have played the Ibanez basses, and for the money and the features they are great.  I haven't been too in love with the Jay Turser.  I feel the Epi Casady and the little Allman Brothers guy bass - with mini buckers and a Hofnerish control plate? - are nice and affordable.  I love short, med, long and extra long scale basses for what they are.  That being said, if I wanted the path of least resistance for buying strings, especially if you are a musician who goes on the road at all, get a long scale bass.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

I also think the Epi JCS is one of the best basses around, for the money. And used that could be possible?

No, please, don't start the discussion that the original Les Paul Signature bass is better!

poomwah

the only problem is the allen woody's are sellign for about 4 used and casady's are going for about 5 or more :[

I tried the small bodied Ibanez Artcore at the Frankfurter Musikmesse, but I don't know its type nr.. it's like a hollow body Les Paul. Could that be the AGB200 you're talking about?

I liked that a lot. Real 60s, Nice size. Normally I don't like gold hardware, but it looks oky on this bass. It's dark brown.

poomwah

yeah, the dark brown with gold hardware would be the agb200.  The bodies are small on those ?  how small?  I want a HUGE bodied bass

Hows about those Dano RIs?  Might be pushing the budget, but I've seen 'em go in the $300-ish range.  I've been tempted by those before.

I'll check into those.. read that post you linked, hell if they used one on talking heads, its got to be cool, LOL

Chris P.

Ibanez has big semisolids, but the brown one is more Les Paul-ish.

poomwah

the only two the make now are the agb and afb... the agb is the les paul'ish one.  The other is the afb, but they say its not a semi

Chris P.

I'll go to the site one of these days to check!

"The AFB200 offers the rich complex tones of a true full-acoustic body while the semi-acoustic construction of the AGB200 provides increased sustain and feedback resistance."

poomwah

or should I just get an acoustic bass?

This Waterstone speaks to me!

It's a little more than you were thinking of spending, but it looks pretty sweet IMO. They have a couple other models on ebay as well.

that waterstone is gorgeous, but unfortunately 100 over budget right now :[
speaking of over budget, I'm finding myself falling in love with the Eastwood Classic 4
