I had sort of a mini epiphany the other day. There are tons of Gibson and Epi players who are perfectly happy with the three point and black hardware but I bet many would like a 60's tail piece in conjunction with the three point. Fiest off it looks cool, second no more string windings over the saddles, three you get a greater angle string break giving more tension and sustain. I think it will be really popular. Thoughts guys?

Like Greco?  Mine's chrome hardware, but a little googling turned up this:

I think it looks cool, it works well, and maybe people would go for it.  I am not good at predicting the taste of other bassists though :)
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Yep; a separate tailpeice with either a 2 or 3 point bridge is a great improvement.  The only issue I see here is unwillingness to drill new holes in a bass (why I tend to throw on a trapeze.... which probably wouldn't look right on a TBird, but is right at home on my Triumph and even on EBs), though we're not talking vintage ones here so maybe it'll fly.

Postings like this on various forums could help you judge interest. Seems like a good idea to me and I think there may be enough interest to do at least a small run as a test.
