Harmony Central. Seriously.

Best comment so far: "So, when does the forum get robot tuners and an extra-wide nut?"

They neglected to mention that it will be renamed Harmony Continental.

I know the name Harmony Central, but have never actually browsed the pages.  I take it from a quick look at Wikipedia (all hail!) that it's a reviewers forum of some kind.  Does this mean that Gibson will excise all the detrimental content to the brand and replace it with great reviews lies in the future?

The future I come from no longer exists.

The activity there (forums and the reviews) seems to be maybe 10% or less of what it used to be. That may be a good thing for the forums, since they used to be full of nasty trolls. Not so good from the standpoint of getting reviews from real people instead of planted shills.

Henry says it will be a neutral site, but I'm doubtful considering the track record of Gibson's own forums including the "Ask Henry" forum which was taken down.

Not at all, Anne Erickson will be in charge here ;D

Harmony Central used to have a fairly simple interface and very active review listings.  Then they "improved the look" and it became a pain in the ass to navigate and much more difficult to find the reviews.  I stopped visiting and I think I've even looked at reviews once in the last two years.

A perfect case of self-inflicted wounds. Making the site prettier defeated its purpose and made it irrelevant.

That might be a good idea. She probably wouldn't be able to tell criticism of Gibson from praise.

Yeah, it had gotten weird. I haven't been there in so long, I couldn't even remember the name of the site when I wanted to look something up recently!

That's because Musician's Friend bought it and gutted the classifieds section, which was what was driving the site in pre-Craigslist days. Several of my rare amps came from those classifieds about 15 years ago.

They probably bought it on the cheap if it's gone that far downhill.

Makes perfect sense. The reviews were really the only reason I went there.

Maybe Gibson will make the Forums there as helpful and responsive as the ones on the Tascam site......which is akin to a cemetery full of quiet corpses with ZERO customer relations support.

I believe they use the "bass division" of Gibson as a model. :)
