Yes it was, as a personal favor by John Hall to the former owner.

Speaking of Blue Boy.......the Ric 4000 from Jim Reeves backup band the Blue Boys (where the name for the color came from) turned up for sale last year. Apparently it's whereabouts had been unknown for decades.

Went for big bucks.

Three Blue Boy Rickenbackers!

But only one of them is mine...

What is better than three Blue Boy Rickenbackers?

This is what happens when Peter Boer pays you a visit.
All three Blue Boys in your picture are very different.  The one on the left is a perfect blue boy, no sign of green or yellow.  The middle one is slightly mint green.  The one on the right has a lot of mint green change over.  I own two guitars in Blue Boy (a 660/12 and a 350v63).  The 660/12 is still all blue, no green anywhere.  It was made around July 2004.  My 350v63 had green and yellow all over it.  It was made in October 2005.  I got most of the yellow off pretty easily and I've been working on getting the green back to blue.  In certain light it looks more blue now.  I heard it was a problem with the Conversion Varnish they used back then.  Rickenbacker plays dumb about it depending who you talk to.  It's a shame because I absolutely love the Blue Boy color.
