Besides the browner/walnuttier finish of the 2014 + trap vs dot inlays, anybody know if there are any other differences between these SG model years?

120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret.  :bored:

Also not sold to Canadians, that lifts any brand's image.

They ship to Canada, don't you worry.  I am not in the market though (more of a purging phase - just sold an amp... don't worry, the G ladies are safe).  I was merely curious about the value of the $500 difference between model years.

There's a lot of hatred for it and I don't understand why. Granted, I'd rather have dots, but that inlay doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

I'm neutral, but I don't collect for inlays either.

OTOH, the "Sting" inlay at the 12th fret of the single coil MIJ P Bass did not offend me and if you tolerate that, your children will be next.

I prefer the traps or blocks myself..... but don't like the anniversary fret.  Not sure it'd turn me off if I was inclinded to buy one.

I've seen the 120th inlay on several guitars and Tbirds hanging at GC. It doesn't bother me at all on the basses but it sorta catches my eye on a neck with the trap inlays. It wouldn't keep me from buying a guitar that had it on there, but it doesn't add anything to it. At least it isn't some over the top inlay on the headstock or the body.

The 120th inlay wouldn't be a deal killer for me. But really... 120th? Are we going to get a 125th inlay too? How about 137th?  :-X

Link doesn't work here... 120th anni...?

Ken, just do an image search for Gibson 120th inlay.

I don't see what's bad about it.

Old Orville would be proud. Well, he would be if they had let him out of the asylum he wound up in.

It jars, imho, and just does not sit right in relation to the other inlays on the LP pics I found... A throwback to an older Gibson inlay with a 120 anni logo on the head would have been more of an honouring, as opposed to a "where could we stick something on existing models that would be cost-minimal and snag a couple of gullible collector buyers...?", or am I being overtly cynical...?
