I recently sold one of my LP Sigs that was in a teaburst/honey burst finish that was definitly the maple neck. The one I kept was the goldtop that definitly has a Mahogany neck.

So that means there are LP Sigs with a maple neck and there are LP Sigs with a mahogany neck.  :toast:

Do you collect for necks too Uwe?

I own a couple Gibson Les Paul Sigs and have watched many for sale ads for them...all maple necks.

EXCEPT....the original ones in the catalog had the oval pickups. One was for sale around 10 years ago and may have had a mahogany neck, if I recall.

So, possibly the first few with the oval PUP were mahogany and Gibson switched to maple necks when they changed the PUPs?

I have the Casady LP Sig and it is definitly snappier as Uwe mentioned. I have to say that the Lp Sig is a 'mellower' sweeter instrument and I prefer it. I would say the Casady can cut through in louder settings.

I wasn't aware that maho neck LP Sigs existed too, duh!

modified Epi JCS with Gibson Lo-z bass pickup...
Still very happy with that modification. I can recommend it to anyone wanting to spice up their JCS.

Yeah, I was always jealous of that one, as my dream was for an EB2 style bass with that pup.  I think it would look AMAZING on a black fin JCS.  I'd have done that myself by now, but as you know I like me shorties.

My 67 Rivoli carcass will sport a Lo-Z when it's all assembled. Right now I'm fitting a 65 EB0 neck to it.

Look all of you, stop it - it's bad enough that you're stealing my ideas, but do you have to rub it in .  :P
