Everybody calm down or I will have 10 of you shot - randomly picked - to reinstate ORDNUNG. And you know how I am closer to you guys now than ever ...
It does what it says on the tin: This is the 2015 Thunderbird, not the 2015 reissue of the 63 model. Get over it. And it is sunburst because 8 out of 10 people that buy their first Thunderbird want a sunburst one, just like most Firebird players prefer sunburst too. This new TBird has ingredients that will probably make it sound brighter and a bit more modern than its predecessors, there is a market for that.
Of course I will get one. And gladly so though I dread the fading effect of those magnets if you bend a note - they are the pups pioneered in the G 3 Tribute and the EB bass.
What else is new? I'm in the boondocks of North California. In an Indian reservation village called Klamath (get your maps), maybe 30 miles from Crescent City. We landed in LAX on Saturday, September 20. Since then we have seen Santa Barbara, Monterrey, San Francisco, Yosemite, Mono Lake (Edith is a Pink Floyd nut, she had to see it in real after the Wish You Were Here cover), Lake Tahoe (no David Coverdale, but a bear - a live and wild one - at the lodge's reception in the rainy night), Sacramento, Sausalito, Napa Valley, Carlistoga, Little River just south of Mendocino, Highway 101 or No 1, redwoods galore and now here in the slightly moldy reeking suite at the Ravenwood Motel with a gas station doubling as a one armed bandit casino doubling as a liquor store doubling as a deli close by that is a microcosm of what went wrong in US Native American policies and programs in the last generations. And why dental healthcare is seemingly not high on Native American agendas. Oh, I forgot the two elk males we saw grazing on a meadow and unperturbed by the proximity of our (horrible ghetto pimp style) black Mercedes E350 (Hertz probably tried to be nice to us when they gave their kraut customers a Mercedes of all cars - I would have preferred a Mustang or Jeep and they thought I was joking!).
It's been quite a trip so far. And, liebe Amerikaner, your good country is a jewel of sights and nature wonders, we're quite overwhelmed and dazzled by it all.
