I saw a new Dodge Challenger today in a show room. It look really cool, it was black on black.

The They wanted $53,000 for it- $43,000 for the list price, taxes etc and a $12,000 market adjustment addition to the price!!!!!

Chris P.

I want one, but of course in Dukes Of Hazard colours. A modern 01 General Lee!

Barklessdog

That was a Dodge Charger, not a Challenger.

that looks great! my dad had a '70 'Cuda in that same color.
'72 GIBSON SB-450, '74 UNIVOX HIGHFLYER, '75 FENDER P-BASS, '76 ARIA 4001, '76 GIBSON RIPPER, '77 GIBSON G-3, '78 GUILD B-301, '79 VANTAGE FLYING V BASS, '80's HONDO PROFESSIONAL II, '80's IBANEZ ROADSTAR II, '92 GIBSON LPB-1, 'XX WAR BASS, LTD VIPER 104, '01 GIBSON SG SPECIAL, RAT FUZZ AND TUBES

Chris P.

You're totally right. I know all the differences and I even have some Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/hemi books at home. I always confuse the Charger and Challenger names and I think the orange colour helped a bit...

They have to make a new Charger too! Or do they?

See how cool orange and chrome are!
Resident T Bird playing Drag Queen www.thenastyhabits.com  "Impülsivê", the new lush fragrance as worn by the unbelievable Fräulein Rômmélle! Traces of black patent leather, Panzer grease, mahogany and model train oil mingle and combust to one sheer sensation ...

They do make a Charger but it is a large 4 door sedan based off the Chrysler 300

Chris P.

An orange/chrome T-bird would be nice!

I like the Chrysler 300. A real mafia car. I'll search for some pics of the Charger.

The market adjustment is just to keep the riff-raff out. But it reminds me of the days when I was selling Toyotas in the mid-eighties. I sold the first Targa-roofed Supra in the Chicago area. Full list price (no market adjustment). The commission on that one sale was like an extra month's pay. Those were the days! Right now I could use the comission on a $12,000 market adjustment. (Actually I'd probably just use it to buy more bass gear.)

Chris P.

I like the retro looks of some cars. The Challenger really looks like a real old Challanger. Same with the new Mini Cooper, Fiat 500 and some other nice American Muscle cars.

This Charger looks great, but not really like the old one:

I really love the sound of a '62 Ferrari V12 engine. That's just sophisticated art. Jazz music maybe? A Telecaster through a clean Twin?
But I love the flushing-the-toilet-sound of an American V8 better:) It's just like a Les Paul through an overdriven Marshall!

Barklessdog

What's really cool is a lot of the police stations around me are adding Chargers to their fleets. It's an intimidating police car in black, unlike some places that switched to 6 cylinder Chevy Impalas

Chris P.

Wow! I also loved the old rear wheel driven Impalas.

This is something else than the Dutch police Volkswagen Golfs and Opel Zafiras!

Barklessdog

No I meant the last Chevy Impala which was a midsized front wheel drive V-6 rental/fleet car

Chris P.

I understood that. But I just meant I liked the old one!

An Impala just has to have a V8.

That's what ya call "dealer markup". They're just charging whatever the market will bear. I was looking at an '07 Shelby GT (not the GT500) which is basically a Shelby-tweaked Mustang GT. They wanted $45,000 for a $39,000 car! I ended up ordering an '08 Mustang GT and did my own mods. Less than 32 grand and some "sweat equity" later, my car will smoke a Shelby GT.

I have assumed control...
