Ok, Chris, looks like you won't be filling the bass slot on upcoming Queen and Paul Rodger's tours.  ;D ;D ;D

Paul Rodger's (a great singer) with Queen (a one of a kind band though I wouldn't call them great) is a great natural fit. Second on my list would be Johnny Ramone with the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Ted Nugent with REM.

Uwe

this is exactly what i meant.Paul is a great dirty RnR/RnB singer.but Queen is like opera/broadway meets rocknroll. they are all great but very different. are they doing both Queen and Free/Bad Company songs?  i like bacon and i like watermellon i just don't want 'em at the same time.the Nuge and R.E.M. is really funny

Queen have great songs, yes, and not just the singles, but there is also too much fluff (among the singles and the album stuff). I miss consistency in their output.

;D  Now that I gotta see!

Added bonus - it would get McLaughlin off the mic!

It's easy to laugh about the Mahavishnu stuff now, but looking at the start of that song, there is no denying that there was a remarkable chemistry among them. Johnny Ramone, btw, would have already failed the audition when trying to get those initial breaks with Cobham right!  ;D

McLaughlin will never be a favorite guitarist of mine, but I have to admit that I have never ever seen someone solo  :o on a 12 string like that.

You know, Mick Ronson and Felix Pappalardi actually worked together on a project.  It was a band comprised of Felix, Mick, Ian Hunter and Corky Laing.  Laing was selling the unreleased album as The Secret Sessions.  It's a decent record, but nothing spectacular.

So, let's do this:

Mick Ronson - guitar/vocals
Felix Pappalardi - bass/vocals
Keith Moon - drums
Layne Staley - vocals

Mick Ronson is almost completely forgotten. I loved his Slaughter on 5th Ave LP.

The follow-up, Play Don't Worry, was even better.  I've got them both.

+2 for the Mick Ronson fan club.

I have all of the Bowie stuff, Slaughter On 10th Avenue and Play Don't Worry.  What a great sound and style.

Great player, yes, I saw hime twice with Ian Hunter in the late eighties and early nineties and I loved his playing with the Rolling Thunder Revue. He was once a likely candidate for replacing Mick Taylor ... it would have not only improved the Stones but also likely saved his life because as a Stone he could have afforded better cancer treatment.

YEAH!! Duane & Woody!! Of course!! Berry Oakley on LEAD maybe. heh

Better yet, Duane back with  Berry on bass & vocals with Harrison on 2nd lead.
George could sing some too, along with Billy Preston on B-3.

Hmmm....not sure about the right drummer or drummers!! You're probly right about Winehouse tho.

That's another thing. Bands of almost dead people:

- Amy Winehouse on vocals
- Pete Doherty and Keith Richards duelling away on guitars
- Taylor Hawkins on drums (the Foo Fighters drummer ODs once in a while)
- hmmm.... have to think about a bass player.
