In one of the pictures you can see a Fender label on the back of a headstock

And the worker in that picture has a Fender badge on his shirt.

He thinks?

Oh, come on... Just because he's inspired by fender doesn't mean that he cannot add he's own special design elements
as a luthier?

Wonder if gibson QC would have let this axe through...

Yes!  Even my beloved (formerly) immaculate, mint, case queen '73 Triumph - perfect *everywhere* - wasn't immune.

Found this lurking under its bridge cover  ;D

I'm wondering if that might be a Fender (Squier) in that factory pic?  My Indonesian Strat mini has a "backed by Fender..." transfer exactly like that on the back of the headstock.

Could be. Wouldn't surprise me if this factory is a source for multiple companies.

It does bother me that this seller's listing for a LP type guitar shows a Gibson USA type serial number and has Made In USA stamped into the back of the headstock.

Paul Boyer

I'm not looking at the photo, but it could be that it is a real US guitar in the photo and he's just "borrowed" the photo.

Possible, but I've never seen a Gibson with tuners like that.

Maybe prototypes for a budget robot tuner?

Since the guitars are forgeries, maybe the factory photos are, too.

:)

That's certainly possible.

Reminds me of Grizzly's early catalogs years ago showing workers in a Taiwanese or Chinese factory with Grizzly logos obviously photoshopped onto their work uniforms.

The 'early years' for Grizzly were strictly in Taiwan, around the Taichung area.  Taiwan was a Japanese colony from 1900 until the end of WWII.  Japan's industrialization expanded to the pro west Taiwan postwar.

There was virtually no woodworking industry in China until the Taiwanese arrived when the enterprise zones were set up.  They brought the machinery from the ROC.  As recently as 2000 no mainland factory making goods for export used Made in China machinery.  It was absolute crap.  It's difficult to imagine how quickly mainland China has caught up to the rest of the world.

Received this from China, and tweaked her a bit. She's a great player and I've used in my last two concerts

With that bridge does it have the same width neck as a Rick?
Louder bass!.

tore00

Yes, the string spacing and the neck width are the same of my 4003. Neck profile of real 4003 is a little fatter, but I know that is typical of the time of production of mine (2009)
