beware of the stranger who upon meeting you blurts out within five minutes that he is a lead guitarist. not just a guitarist but a lead guitarist. it will be impossible to have a conversation with this person as the topic will always snap back to him. same thing applies to every instrument player but full disclosure may take a bit longer. hell, the tuba guy may say nothing at all.

I've had a tendency to have good luck with guitarists.  But I've observed second hand the bad attitudes quite a number of times.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

You mean the lead singer, don't you?

Most guitarists need to be led. That is how lead guitarist really needs to be pronounced.

Do Zepplins need to be led?  (He asked innocently...)

Q:How Many Lead Guitarists does it take to change a lightbulb?

A:Four. One to change it and three to stand back and say "Not bad, but I could have done it way better"

I thought it was one to stand still while the rest of the world revolves around him. Or maybe that was the lead singer.

I got to see Tower of Power the other day, and though Rocco Prestia wasn't there (unfortunately he is again in need of a liver transplant), it has rejuvenated my interest in him and the band. This is from an interview with him in Vintage Guitar magazine:

Why were there so many singers in this band?
Because we got tired of their asses!

Usually that would spell failure for a band because the audience identifies with the singer.
For whatever reason, they either wouldn't work out, or they'd leave on their own. You know, singers in general are freaking head cases. A lot of them have "L.S.D." – Lead Singer Disease, for anyone who doesn't know. We had a lot of great ones, though.

According to the article they had five singers in their first ten years!

What of the even worse predicament - the multiple lead-singer band... :o

I'm pretty sure TOP only had one lead singer at a time - I'm trying not to think about a multiple lead-singer band, but Jefferson Airplane springs to mind... *shiver*

They work because they rarely actually get together except onstage. Their albums are FTP'ed track by track from each member's home studio and mixed in the label's studio, but when they're not touring, they basically don't even know each other.
