Sorry, The Band is Out.....

For the last few months we've been living with an unusual situation from our rhythm guitarist (helluva nice guy).  He had retired from oil exploration, but they waved money at him and he signed up for another one-year deal.  For three weeks he's in town, then the next three weeks he's on an oil exploration vessel somewhere in the world.

This plays hell with band practice opportunities...and it goes on through this coming March.

And last weekend, the drummer (super guy, and his house is where we normally practice) was in a state handball tournament and popped his left Achilles tendon.  He's stitched back together, but will be in a cooling cast to hold down swelling until Thanksgiving, after which he gets a hard cast for two months, followed by a walking cast for another month. I guess once his ankle starts to flex again, running the high hat with that foot will be good therapy....?

Every now and then I get together with the lead guitarist to jam in my basement.  That's about all I can do.  I have managed to get the rhythm guy involved once or twice when he's in town.

Yup, nobody wants to leave or go anywhere, just a damn long layoff due to an intersection of commitments and injury.

Two year layoff for me so far... not looking at present... too much going on....

Drummer got a hard cast last week - just maybe he might be interested in some low-key jamming...I'll ask.  His basement is the practice area so he doesn't have far to go.

Man, that's a bummer.  At least it sounds like everyone is still game and wanting to play.  When I got sick 2 years ago, my band mates waited 4-5 months while I was recovering and going through treatments.  They just got together once in awhile without me and sometimes with a fill in bassist.  But my spot was reserved.  What a bunch of great guys!  Hope everyone gets back to playing soon.  I know how those long layoffs feel!
