Skynyrd & Bad Co in Woodstock (Thunderbird content)
« on: July 28, 2013, 05:18:40 AM »
Great show last night - both bands sounded tight as a clam's butt, with Johnny Colt from LS sporting what looks like a tweaked 70s 'birdie...

Looking at the small headstock and gold lettered TRC - I don't think that's a '70s Thunderbird. Which only makes it more interesting BTW  :)

I originally thought that it might be one a' them of Japanee variants. The headstock doesn't look exactly small, either, but I think those are Hipshot Ultralights, no? My buddy knows Skynyrd's drum tech - I'll have to ask him to find out what the scoop is.

Bad Co with whom? Ralphs, Rodgers and Kirke?

To me the tuners look like chrome "Y"s, the bridge looks like a Nickel Allparts - chrome pups  ;)
The more I look at the headstock I think post '88.

Yes. Ralphs is looking very old, but played great. One of my favorite six-string guys. Rodgers and Kirke likewise were impressive - Rodgers in particular doesn't seem to have suffered at all in the vocal department. Howard Leese was also on guitar - not sure who the bassist was, I'll have to check.

BTW, regarding Colt's T-Bird - look where the jack is - like the "newer" T-Birds...

The bridge appears to have black saddles, and the pickups are 2-holers - but something about the corners radius on them is nagging me.

I didn't know Colt was playing with Skynyrd. That seems like a cool fit. Who else is in the band?

From Wikipedia - I'm pretty sure that this is the current lineup
Gary Rossington – guitars
Rickey Medlocke – guitars, vocals
Johnny Van Zant – lead vocals
Michael Cartellone – drums
Mark Matejka – guitars, backing vocals
Peter Keys – keyboards
Johnny Colt – bass

Bass for Bad Co is Todd Ronning, along with Howard Leese on the extra guitar...

It really looks like a Post '88 in that shot.

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching him. Maybe it's a short scale. ;D
