My wife and I were having dinner at a good brewpub restaurant last evening, and a band with my friends was playing on the Oldtown stage just a few yards away.  It was a nice Colorado evening about 8:00, probably 80 degrees, when a thunderstorm blew in.  As it happened, I went to the restroom - a few leaves were moving in the trees - and when I game back, I felt a few raindrops and the wind had picked up significantly.

Within less than 15 minutes, I shot the video below.  The bandstand has a permeable cover over it which deals well with sprinkles, but this rain dumped at least an inch of water in 20 minutes.  There was some hail thrown in, too!  I couldn't get the video to embed, but here's the link.  It's about 55 seconds long.

There is a 3-foot wide stream/water feature running across in front of the stage - it overfilled and the entire area was submerged.  NEVER in 15 years here have I seen that much rain in such a short time.

The band scrambled to get equipment in cases, but they couldn't do much with the amps and PA.  They have a gig this evening and I hope they get things dried out in time.

It may be unfortunate that I said "That's pretty impressive" right after she walked through the frame.

I was referring to the water level.  Honest!

Nonsense... we all know you wax... ;D

Al... it's called a monsoon... better get used to the future... I'm sure Carlo's lived through a few in China... Dad noted that he was able to take a bar of soap and shower in the open during the monsoon storms whilst in Burma in '44, and probably was not joking...

You were discussing impressive rack gear. Perfectly understandable.

Yup, called same-same here.  Just not what you envision when thinking "Colorado at 5,000 feet."

We get those regularly here during "monsoon season". They are good as we always need rain, but they can get nasty if you are driving in them (or playing in them in this case).

I grew up in South Florida, Almost every summer day there'd be an hour downpour around 5 PM.  Streets would flood and lawns become lakes.  Sun would come out and half hour later all the water was gone.  Doesn't rain there as much now, too much concrete and asphalt.

I've experienced similar downpours in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bali, Philippines, Taiwan and S. China.  Actually in the middle of one at the moment, I think I'll go out and shower.
