Sort of reminds me of a Gibson Victory.

It's something different, which means retailers here probably won't want to stock it.

pickup placement looks very stingray-ish to me.  3 coil probably 5 way switch too.  it's passive though isn't it.

i do see the victory resemblence but i don't see the extra 4 pounds that the victory has..

Basvarken noticed the similarity to the Victory on a Dutch bass forum.

I think it's quite nice of Fender to make something a bit different. The guard is a bit LP Jr. and a bit '69 Tele Thinline. The body quite Strat-ish. The MM placement. Yes, the bass has a 5-way rotary switch for all kind of coil combinations.

Yep. Glad I'm not the only noticing the Victory vibe

Yeah, but a Victory with an Ibanez ATK style pickup (triple coil blade poles).... but not the larger bridge concept (too bad, really, always liked that about the ATKs).

I agree it looks a lot like the Gibby - but it's kind of a graceful thing. The PG has a nice sweep to it.  Wonder what tones that 5-position switch can generate?

In white/maple:

It can do:

Front coil alone, front and middle coil together, all three coils together, middle and rear coils together, rear coil alone.

Neither of the links work for me and when I search the site, it says that model does not exist. Anybody grab a pic?

Here's a one-post Harmony Central thread with pic: http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/Bass-Forum/fender-modern-player-dimension-bass-2013/m-p/35616479

They ought to just pay Gibson (or the Koch RNC PAC directly :o) a license fee and call that thing a Victory! It's nice to see something actually different from Fender, but a copy of Gibson's copy of their products is kind of weird. The "old Dimension" was Fender's Ibanezawannabe, so this is just out of left field, but in a good way. If they sound decent, I bet they're a sleeper hit. The only thing that ever kept Victories on the shelf was that they said "Gibson" on the headstock and were priced accordingly.

Looks like a nice alternative to a StingRay. I like the white.

Now shown on Fender's website in American Deluxe and Deluxe (MIM?) series as well as the Modern Player series.

$2,360 MSRP for the American Deluxe. That's really getting up there. It's not that easy to find American Deluxe Ps or Js in stock, will they even order this one?
