The horror. From TB.

As usual with Steve, no truss rod.

As crude and unrefined as it is, it still looks like Wishnevsky's best work  ;)

Maybe one day, he'll discover how to use a router... and grain filler...and a finish that doesn't look like it was applied by a middle-schooler who was high from the fumes of applying it in an enclosed space with no ventilation...maybe try sanding or learning to solder and apply lead dress...but until then, pubescent subterranean noephytes can marvel at his 'work.'

Shine on Wish, you hero of Talkbass, for your incompetence has bought you more fame than all of the spiff, sponsorship and advertising dollars spent there by commerical entities. Wishnevsky, in his own way, has beaten the big boys quite solidly, building a massive reputation founded soley upon his ability to make terrible half-assed "bass guitars." That makes me smile.

The most damning aspect probably is that even the RicSTAPO would not go after this.

HA HA HA!!! No kidding! Wow, what a mess. I can't believe anybody would send this guy money for these instruments.

In Holland there's a builder to who make some sort of Birds which are missing all beauty of real birds.

Disgracefully bad workmanship. Most of you have probably heard of the infinite monkey theorem. It would only take a handful of monkeys with tools to do better work than this.

Time to drag out my pre-CBS Wishbass pic.  ;)

there is a megathread over at tb where guys take an average (raw) wishbass and really turn them into things of beauty. i swear...

I used to have one of his early ones.  Serial in the 120's I think.  Not a bad bass for the $$. I just am not a fretless player.   :-[

jumbodbassman

it is what it is.   a 250 fretless bass with a bad finish,  and minimal luthier skills.  folks buy them and learn how to work on basses and not destroy a nice instrument.  If you get a wish for anything else you will be greatly disappointed.  and his cult following is all about the changes they make and joking about his sloppy work..  the thread on TB is one of the most active but its all about sharing repair stories and techniques.  i have picked up a few repair ideas ,  most of which are above my talent level, from the thread...

But truely almost a cult following which i don't understand.

i have owned a few,  sold most ,  tried of ebay and custom ordered - results pretty much the same  sold,  cancelled,  argued....

steve Wishneski??  if you try to deal with directly is rather impossible and does whatever he feels like even after you think he got it he just "forgets" and does it his way....like truss rods etc.

there is video out there of him playing really smashed and sounding like a dying cow bass so out of tune that is  actually funny and explains why he produces such instruments.. he clearly is tone deaf

Minimal luthier skills? A beaver could do a better job on that control cavity!

I had bookmarked that YT video of him playing, it was in my humor playlist. Sounded like a wounded moose. He took it private.

He has a new laptop model. It sounds like he is playing bass in this video too.
