Apropos of nothing at all, a photo of the top of the TV cabinet in my bedroom.  Ya gotta respect the classics...they're a bit dusty but hanging in there fine.

Last year I was delighted to pick up a long-wanted DVD of the one and only Christmas special with Bill & Opus, "A Wish for Wings That Work".  I happened to catch the original which was taken from a book written by Berke Breathed.  I think it only aired once, in 1991.  It came out on DVD in 2007 - a lapse of 16 years!  It's one of the most pleasantly warped Christmas specials.

Bloome County and Calvin & Hobbs!  The paper was never better

They're both being rerun daily. Calvin & Hobbes is still relevant, Bloom County seems dated.

Bloom County - not commonly known over here - a quick look at images gave me a "Fat Freddie's Cat" impression of the cat but...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Bill the Cat was supposedly a parody of Garfield. At least he was seen that way, although Berke Breathed may not have intended it that way.

I actually got written permission from Berkely Breathed to use Bill on my headstock...I must be getting old - I never used to follow the rules.

I wondered when you'd pop up on this one... ;D

How's the family beat-combo going...?

Good - thanks for asking.  The boys are still going at it and have a few shows scattered around.
They were asked to open for a popular Black Sabbath tribute band next weekend (whose drummer is my youngest son's drum instructor).
should be  fun.

The best thing about my youngest getting a bit older is that he cares for (and lugs) most of his own drum gear now.
I'm soon to retire from the roadie gig.

Someone had to lower the tone of the conversation to the normal level...

I love Bill the Cat. I have a Care Bears Grumpy Bear wearing a Pearl Jam hat on my stereo cabinet.
