Or an episode of the German series "Hals über kopf" and yes, that series was also broadcasted in the Netherlands.

Times change. I had my full non-restricted drivers license when I was 14, and my parents let me drive pretty much without limits. Paris would have been off-limits though, unless it had been Paris, Texas.  ;)

Yes, and add to that how impossibly rare cars were for normal folk during the Great Depression!  :o
