RIP Alvin Lee

I saw him once as the opener for Black Sabbath (Mob Rules tour) in Nashville. Knew very little about him at the time but I remember being very impressed with his playing. RIP to a great player.

He wasn't just fast, he was fluid. He didn't have Rory Gallagher's grit and was unlike Robin Trower relatively Hendrix-free, but though not sparse (like Clapton can be), I found him an elegant blues player.

i remember the article saying he died from complications fron 'routine' surgery. turns out the routine surgery was on his heart!

i believe both lee and burrell lived in spain. hmm.
