One of my pleasures in the TV series NCIS is to see David McCallum playing Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard, the medical examiner.

Back in his Illya Kuryakin days on The Man From U.N.C.L.E......

I always liked that 60's TV series, and it was a pleasure to see McCallum back on TV.

In the second season (The Meat Puzzle episode from 2005) after Ducky is kidnapped, Kate asks Gibbs what Ducky looked like when he was younger, and Gibbs says "Ilya Kuryakin!"  :)

I loved that line.  The new NCIS episode that came on tonight was exceptionally good.

That was a shocker. Especially Leon's wife dying.

Ziva's father dying was not quite so shocking, but definitely Leon's wife getting killed like that was probably an unexpected plot development for most viewers.  Not that I like anyone dying, but the writers are doing a good job.  It's pretty amazing that a show that has been on the air that long shows no signs of becoming stale.

I guess I need to catch up on NCIS.  I've always liked the show, and Ducky is a great character.   There's a few parts of the show that get a little far-fetched, but it's always entertaining.  And, I guess the spoilers won't hurt if I pick up the show again.   8)

I don't follow much serial TV, especially if it's on anything but the major network channels, ABC/CBS/NBC.  I've always been challenged to follow series on anything but what my aged brain considers the "major" channels...meaning the broadcast channels I grew up with.  The exception is Justified on FX. Both my wife and I enjoy the heck out of that series.  Olyphant is a fine actor, and the writers have a lot of fun with that show.

Yeah, I was watching the season opener for Justified.  It's a good show, and in my basic cable package.  The only other shows I watch are Breaking Bad, which is starting to stretch the imagination a little too much, and Dexter, which I can no longer watch (Showtime).  I may try to catch up on that one, if I ever get enough time to sit down and watch.

Robert Vaughn lives in my town.   Actually a very unfriendly arogant terd who drives around in a nice old rolls.  everybody in town comments on what an grouchy old shit he is but his wife is actually really pleasant.   His personality maybe one of the reasons he hasn't really done much since the uncle days.  Last time i saw him in cheescake factory he looked rather old and maybe a touch of parkinsons showing through.  Nobody there seemed to know who he was.

Dexter has been one of the biggest surprises ever for me.  I was determined from the first to not even consider a show based on a serial killer.  However, I find it very entertaining and the most recent plot twists are amazing.  Jennifer Carptenter's acting in that is impressive.  I know she isn't supposed to be the main character, but she has become increasingly more important.  She truly breathes life into the Deb character.  In the newest episode (as we later found,) she even engaged in some spontaneous acting after the final scene was supposed to be over and this, of course, added even more realism.  Of course, Dexter will be ending next year, which is usually what happens anytime I get really interested in a TV show.

You know that Jennifer Carpenter is Michael C Hall's now ex-wife, right?  The seasons with John Lithgow and Julia Stiles were just riveting.  Outstanding TV.

I heard about the marriage, the divorce and also those seasons with John Lithgow and Julia Stiles I haven't even been able to see yet.  I started with season six which some people seem to think was somewhat below average.  I do think season seven is way better, but there wasn't anything particularly wrong with season six, IMO, either.  I do feel, however, that the show has probably hit full stride with season seven and that could extend into the final season.

I'm sure some people already know this, but Jimmy Page credits David McCallum's father for giving him the idea of playing his guitar with a violin bow.  Since this seems to be such a pro-Led Zeppelin site, I thought I'd throw that in there.

It hit me a while back why I like Justified. It's a western. Not even that different from my favorites in the 50s.
