ooof da!
Duane Allman should have been at the top of my list and appoligies to Stevie Ray  & Jimi. The young buck derek trucks has made my  blood boil and the hair stand up on my neck . Early on in his career I say Springsteen and he  can sure swing an axe! My halfsymers kicks in now and again...

And from left field, R.L. Burnside   gives me goose bumps its that raw and unadulterated but just wraps its fingers around your head and into your ears.

how about les Paul himself?  great clean tone and chops from here to Sunday.

Went to NYC last year to see him with a friend . What a thrill!! His hands are pretty knotted with arthritis so his signiture  runs arent as possible as they once were . He gave us the finger at the end of the show. he always features some young person on an instrument

One of us should also mention Jimmy Page.  I'd say he and Gilmour know to use tone in the studio better than most.

Speaking of Black Beauty, some of the tones that Neil Young has had come out of that guitar are definitely worthy.

Jimi Hendrix. The intro and first chorus of Red House, never heard a better guitar tone.

Also wanted to add George Harrison.
