Older Gibson case in a BC Rich auction
« on: June 05, 2008, 12:27:31 PM »
I saw this posting and thought I'd share it here. Looks like an old Thunderbird case included in the auction. I don't know what these cases usually go for, but someone may be able to flip the bass to offset some of the costs towards the case? I thought about going for it and selling the case to someone here that might need it and and keeping the bass as a beater/project but not sure if anyone else would want the case?

That's a deal on a number of levels.

Looks like the bass has an Alembic Activator P setup too (or "Olympic" pickup, as he calls it  ;) ).  $825 retail on one of those, according to Alembic's site.

It's an exact copy of my 70s T-bird case. The rounded edge on the right fits the rounded back of the T-bird body.

It would be fun if whoever won it told the guy to send the pups and the case and keep the bass.

This auction just ended - $362 for a similar Alembic P setup:

Someone was probably after the pickups in that B C Rich auction I posted. That went for $305. Way more than anyone would normally pay for that bass.

I don't know about that, it's not one of the fancy neck-thru series but it is a US-made BC Rich. Someone may have actually wanted the bass.
