So you're spreading the joy/not being greedy (unlike certain bass tyrants in their skyscraper offices); good on ya.

Seriously though, I understand having a backup, but sometimes you just can't carry that cost (I have spare LoZ pups and tone switches - the other parts are easy enough to come by if something happens/wood is repairable)

My '75 P is irreplaceable. It's a perfect, once-in-a-lifetime bass.

I'd have to keep my '67 EB-2, I've had it since I was 18, going on 39 years.............

But my favorite player is still my '72 Triumph. Baddass Bridge & all! I guess I'd part with my nicer one before I'd part with my player of 20 years.

Now that is interesting.

You went AWOL around the time Chris invited me here and (much to numerous members disgust ;D) I never left... the rebuild story is on the below link and my first post was how I ended up with an instrument I had no idea of the significance of... the work is not finished as I intend to gold plate the Mudbucker cover and my RD pup will be replaced by an already gold-plated Lollar - I still have not located the original PC pup...

I actually pondered selling this one to fund a five-string version but I couldn't do it. For me, it is the most perfect instrument yet that I have been blessed to own. I can't say never because of my inability to predict the future and never is a very long time. My "Bronze Age" 2007 Dingwall Super J/P:

I couldn't afford a Dingwall, but I did put together a fanfret, and that's my other keeper from the Embassy.  I get a lot of comments on the sound.

Nice colors on that Super J/P.

It is a great sounding bass Denis.  Made in Alpine, TX by Michael Stevens.  I first met him in 1982 when he had a little shop on East 12th Street here in Austin.  Every time I went there (I was 20 at the time) he'd hand me the '64 Thunderbird IV bass he had in the shop and listen to me play it while he worked.  He probably got tired of hearing me play "The Real Me" all the time but that is what the bass demanded!  :)

I clearly remember when I saw my PC for the first time (prior to second owner buyin her), sunlight being reflected through the window onto her cherry and gold body...
I wonder if I would still have had the white EB2 I missed by a day (cheers for that Mr Foxton, I owe you ;)) in the same shop a year later when she came back in and at £20 cheaper than the EB2's £200 I think I got a true bargain...

Just can't think of instruments as "it"...

The visuals on that bass are fantastic!

Thanks! The Baltic Amber (pick guard) crystals blend nicely with the neck and body colors. ;) I need to take a better picture of it with the matching headstock thrown in...
