Do you have a bass you will NEVER get rid of?

80's "JB Player" P/J copy. Hey, monochrome will come back in again, right?

Cool neck-thru all-maple bass. Not any heavier than one of the plywood Squiers...

You can see the dent above the middle top pickguard screw where my cousin shot at me with his pellet gun during my one real gig (c'mon, my playing isn't THAT bad!  ) and where I had to put the pickguard back together around the output when I stepped on the cord and snapped it right off. That's not damage, that's "mojo", right? I keep wanting to fix a lot of this stuff but it sounds and plays so nice I'm afraid to take it apart, cause it might never get back together. I keep hearing people hatin' on the EMG Select pickups but I think they sound so beautifully clear in this, that I don't want to change them. Plus, you can add dirt, but you can't add clear, right?
I keep taking it to the guitar store and none of the ones there are better to me than this one, even though I'm hoping they'll have an NR Firebird they'll trade me for (keep dreaming, right?)
If it was good enough for Danny Bonaduce, it ought to be good enough for fake bass players everywhere!

No hating here...I love EMG Select P pups...my Precision has one

I had an EMG Select humbucker in my Peter Cook T'bird up until I started the refurb; also have a headless with a pair of them... no complaints...

Oh yeah, if I ever when I get round to rebuilding the Demetriou fretless at least one of the pups will be one...

from what i can tell most squire basses are solid body, i assume not plywood. they are made from mostly alder, maple, basswood and agathis.(poplar). as usual i could be wrong.

Love this neck joint.  I really don't know why so few major manufacturers have not bothered to rethink this area.

Also a really good call on making the jack triangle separate from the rest of the pickguard (or is that a mod?).

Man, that looks SO Russian... I like the color a lot.

Very Gibson Victory-ish in colour and shape.

I'm not sure either, as there aren't any Squire basses.  There are lots of Squier basses, though.

All Squier instruments I've seen lately (new production vs older) are solid wood but edge-joined (and not even book matched).  Usually between 3 to 6 pieces per body (my friend's Tele is 3, my other friend's Jag is 6).  Solid fins only recomended (both of theirs are trans).  The grain matching is usually not too bad on the front but the backs are a dead giveaway.

It's separate because I stepped on the cord once and snapped the end of the guardplate right off! I didn't know how else to fix it other than just screw the piece back down (didn't know there were 5432623 places on line with guardplates   ) I keep meaning to fix it, but if it hasn't moved in the last 12 years...

And I know most Squiers today are "real" wood, I did run across one years and years ago that was ply though.

Hey, it's 17 degrees and dropping in Northern Colorado.

Besides, nofi is a squire, (I crack myself up) he's a man of the world, knowwhatImean?

All this thread is missing now is a discussion of WWII military tanks and aircraft, anal sex, and/or squirrels.
