Well, I've read people at that other forum describe P basses and Stingrays as neck divers too - so that place has them all.  With the right type of strap, combined with wearing the bass below nipple height, NO bass is a neck dive problem IMHO.

And you hear more than you would hear with a Stingray then? I admit that G&Ls are terra incognita for me, I've played an Asat once and a bass of the budget brand some other time - both fine basses, but the initalized brand name, the stupid numbering of the models and the well-behaved non-rock'n'roll look of them always turned me off.

The T-40 has something brutish utilitarian about it - so being named like a Russian tank fits. All G&Ls look "living room/lounge-refined" to me, the T-40 looks cellar or workshop in contrast.

Sound- and workmanship-wise I was actually impressed with the G&Ls I played, the Asat possibly a bit too well-behaved but that probably had to do with the hollow-body character of it. I nearly bought it in that guitar street in NYC in 2000 or 2001, but then settled for the familiar clank and midrange-bite of a Ric 4003 they had there too. Did take me an hour or so to make up my mind. I liked the Asat's look and feel and already had two Rics (5er and 8er) at that point. It was close.
