I'll be leaving my hardware black, but have to say that chrome looks very, very nice.  Congrats.

I don't blame you, it looks OK.  It helped that I had most of the stuff I needed and there weren't any major mods to the body or headstock.

Great job Bill.
The Gotoh res-o-lite reverse wind tuners were a drop in replacement on the BaCHbird Deluxe that I did a while ago.

I think the Bachs have the larger TB headstock, don't they?  This NR has the smaller Studio profile.  Not a lot of room!

What was the measurement from center to center on the tuner posts?  And the ferrule diameter?

Did you use the GB350 (modified mini) or the GB528S (traditional clover leaf look)?

Looks great but the pickup placement looks more "wrong" with the chrome. With black it looks more natural. Waiting for somebody to go all the way...;)

BTW, has anyone compared the sounds with this new pickup placement to the original? I would assume the bridge pickup is in the same location and the neck is further from the bridge.

We used the GB528 res-o-lites nickel plated.

Well, rerouting to move the pup is easy enough to do, but the bass sounds great as is. There would probably be a slight chane in tone if you moved the pup, but the butchering required seems a little too much for me.   Like many Gibson RI basses, they just can't seem to bring themselves to do a really faithful reproduction.  I find the 3 point bridge and small headstock more distracting visually than the pup placement.

In the end, it's a fair representation, although a modern one, of days gone by and it is a USA made bass.  Not to mention, they did a really nice job on the fit and finish.

Thanks!  I'm going to play with the measurements from their web site.

Won't work, 528s are designed as drop in replacements for vintage Fender/Gibson spacing, won't fit the Studio.  Relatively easy to confirm by pulling 2 tuners off a bass with similar.

Scott's NR with vintage Gotoh Reverses (same footprint as Resolites).

True Carlo, but the GB528S tuners' mounting plate is only 37mm tall while the ones you show are 46.7mm if I'm reading the Gotoh spec sheets correctly.  I'llget the tape out later and see what's up.  Thanks for the input!

Still probably won't work, the tuners would hit one another I suspect.

Yep, critical dimension is the "ear" and they are both 39mm.

Oh oops. I thought the ones we used are called GB528. But apparently they're called GBR640.

Those are the ones we used. The ones with the big backplate. The big ears on tall posts. Reverse wind.
The same as those on the Cataldo bass.
Sorry for the confusion.

Did the GBR640s require drilling for the mounting screws?
Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
