And when I hear you (after the mod), I feel happy inside ...

That's hilarious.   :)

Never even seen that one before.

I've seen much of Monty Python, but have also missed much.  I definitely never saw that movie.  The sketches involving the dead parrot and the Spanish Inquisition have probably been my favorite sketches, though.

And as regards European civilisation, it is so darn true too. Never shared the national pride in defeatung the Romans in some forest battle, that just cost us 50 years in medicine, agricultural development, literacy, what have you.

Don't you mean 500 years?

Regardless, Hermann the German is revered by some.

Especially the way things have been going recently, I think you have a point.

Years ago, I bought this course to listen to just for fun.  These courses are for adults who want to entertain themselves mostly, but they're very informative.  I liked the professors's approach.  Needless to say, he is an expert on the Romans.  But you get the feeling that deep down he didn't really like them very much.  Maybe it's because he's Irish and has a Celtic perspective?  I liked what he said, though, and found nothing to disagree with.  If anyone ever wants to order from this company, you should only do so when the courses are on sale.  They are far, far cheaper that way.

Yeah, 500 years more like. Or even more, we needed to wait for the renaissance. What a waste. Also, my Latin would be much better today.
