To each his own, Scott. It's the only new Gibson I'd want to pick up.

Just cause I dont like it doesnt mean a thing. I had a Mosirite once. No need to revisit that.

+1

it's not helping: another dozen of hate-messages will definitely bury my request for a review or sound-samples :)

Bass looks fine to me but...the pups look like dual musicman pups...a combo I never liked.

No worries, I'll get one and report!

I find the trend toward musicman looking pickups in more retro looking basses off. I know MM put that pickup style out in the 70's but it still gives me a modern vibe that clashes with some of the more retro looking aspects.

That being said, I'll join the minority in saying I like the look of this bass.  :)

Anyone see what the dimensions on those pickups are? I wonder if you could drop another pickup into them without routing?

I don't think this bass is retro looking.

No published dimensions on those humbuckers yet.

It's post-retro, kind of steam-punkish. In that regard it is a brave attempt by Gibson, I'm really curious.

Herr Westheimer will give his first. We haven't had a Minnesota bass reviewed here in a long time, New Ulm is the Gibson bass capital of the world!

Nofi: I stand corrected, kind of undecorated steam-punkish!

Do you want me to drive it down there to see the Hermann statue so it won't experience culture shock once it gets to Germany?
