television is full of these shows. i don't see any entertainment value here that you can't find in a bar full of drunks. like the article says these shows portray the south in a very poor light and it really annoys me. this is how most of america will percieve the south if they don't already. surely someone can come up with something better if they are hell bent on a reality show.

yee haw my ass!

Stereotypes sell, I guess.  I find more rednecks in Ohio, and my home state of Illinois, than I care to think about.  Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a redneck..." jokes started when he noticed valet parking at a Detroit bowling alley.

I can't actually think of any southern redneck I've met, except maybe Lynyrd Skynyrd.

If you were forced to watch reality TV, which would you rather watch: redneck reality shows, or the Kuntrashians?

Given that choice, I'd take redneck TV any day. Thankfully I don't have cable.

There are redneck types everywhere, whether or not they're actually called that.

Thinking of another southern stereotype, did you know that the largest membership by far in the second Ku Klux Klan (the one that arose in the 1920s) was in Indiana?

The best part for me is watching all the Northern transplants who embrace this idiocy as though it's actually the legitimate culture. If I took a tv crew into the woods with me, they wouldn't be coming out.

Dave, I know that.  My grandfather was part of that for a week.  They were too extreme even for him.  Indiana has long since been the center of the KKK.

Have you seen what that looks like now? Thank you, no. If I want to fantasize about a child star brought to the spotlight by an incestuous lothario parent, there's Debby Boone.

To her credit, she might have gained a few pounds, but there is no record of her as a KKK member!

I'm a generous and forgiving guy.  It's OK with me if they do that on TV.

Closest thing we've got to a redneck here are bogans.
