If we evolved from chimps, why are there still chimps today?  I feel sorry for them since they seem stuck in the evolutionary food chain!   ;D

Why would you want to stay a chimp?  Aside from swinging through trees and grooming lice from your comrades!

I saw an article once about chimps in the wild working as teams - one chimp would taunt the alpha male into a confrontation, and his partner would then have his way with the females while the alpha male was distracted away from the camp.  Then, they would switch and do it again.

Don't even get me started on murderous dolphins.

somtimes when realizing the mess humans have made, why not. are you coming at this from a slight religious angle, doc?

As a Catholic I am free to surmise that there is no opposition between religion and the laws of evolution. God either had nothing to do with either primates or humans or he steered the sequential and parallel evolution of both, simple as that. Even the Vatican thinks so which, notably, makes all creationists heretics from a Catholic viewpoint.   And there really is no other valid viewpoint, creationists of all people have to admit that the Catholic Church came first. First mover privilege! ;D

So that sculpture isn't so much offensive as thought-provoking. The artist is a(n albeit Anglican) churchgoer btw. and the Anglican Church (to this day a carbon copy of Catholic rites, when I witnessed my first Anglican mass, everything was utterly familiar) building it was displayed in was a real and active one. It was not to mock religion at all.

I'm with Uwe on this one.  I'm just glad that chimps don't have weapons!

They tell us that
We lost our tails,
Evolving up
From little snails.
I say it's all
Just wind in sails.
