Granted, it is as well done as it is radical with attention to detail (brass nut, vintage screws, the fake croc at the back), but still gut-wrenching. And now he's even flipping it!

I am fascinated with the positioning of the badass.  That is a whole lotta saddle travel that will never be used.  Nothing surprises me, but I admit to some pensive head scratching on buying a new bass and doing that kind of stuff.  Times is good for some people.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

On top of everything else, it was stripped and has a lousy refin.

Oh well, at least there's no reserve. The only travesty would be if someone pays good money for it.

this thing may appeal to watt, add decals and play.

This reminds me of that poor Thunderbird that had been "reworked" a couple of months ago. Same part of town, same type of ebay store. I wouldn't be suprised to learn that the basses owner was the same person. Maybe it time for Me & Joe (Chromium) to do some investigating? I'll start polishing up my lead pipe when I get home tonite.

I might take a crack at it if it stays under $400.  It's something I wouldn't feel too terribly about cutting up and stickering myself.  Maybe put some hot Rio Grands in place of those barts.

Edit: But that guard goes away, I don't care if it looks all Van Halen.

It almost makes that Tbird (w/leather tassles, if I recall?) look good!

Despite my local efforts in trying to raise the bar for humane treatment of the Gibson bass species, the greater Phoenix area bass butchers persist...  Have they no souls???  ;D

Might make a good project/player if the price is right.  That Rorschach-inkblot-test-pickguard, however, gots to go!

I might bid, I have a number in mind, we'll see where it goes.
