Yep.  We are as free as we allow our government to control us.  Thanks!

Thanks Kenny! Freedom here is more a mind frame than a reality, If you think you are free you are right ? Still no place I'd rather be.  :)

I'm celebrating Independence by going to hear Dick Dale tonight!  There's an original!

Happy 4th, friends.

A song I love listening to on July 4th.

Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
Clocks.

We opened for him last time he was in Rochester, hell of a nice guy and what a player  :o I even got to hold his gold sparkle Strat :)  Scroll down and there is a pic of the band with Dick http://johnnysmoke.homestead.com/friends.html

Cool photo!

Dick is definitely grayer and has a bit less hair than before his last bout with cancer, but he played basically non-stop for an hour.  Yes, I can tell that he's not quite where he was three years ago, but at age 75 I don't mind. His bass player, Sam Bolle, gets better every year.  It's a great show.

I meet Sam also great guy and a excellent player. Dick pretty much dictates instrument choice amp and setting! 60's -'75 P bass, Fender Bassmans (not sure which ones) and miced with a SM57. Sam sounded great at the show I was at.

I saw him about 2005, and it was definitely a show worth seeing.  The sound was great.  Dale had the LOUDEST clean Strat sound I ever heard.  The bass solo in "House of the Rising Sun" was well thought out.

Yes - that number seems to be a staple of each show, and the bass solo is a real gem - I swear it gets longer every year.
