OK, so some of you read about how a certain well known "Luthier" nearly F'ed up my newly purchased (Actually traded) NOS 1965 Thunderbird II. I got it fixed by Jerry Loy at Player's Guitars in Worth, Illinois. Jerry treats every instrument as if it were his own...and he plays a MEAN bad-ass fusion style bass as well....kinda makes me want to quit when I hear him play!
Anyway, the "Luthier" is not only supposedly refunding me  the money he charged for the Hack job...but also is paying for the repair that Jerry did. Pretty cool. We'll see if this comes true when the check arrives....

I won't mention his name again in public out of courtesy....

If he does as described, he's really stepping up and making it right.

I'm not sure why you didn't go to Jerry in the first place?

Jerry by the way built my custom Fenderbird. The guy is also is amazing at setting up basses. He's nowhere near where I live, but worth the trip. Great guy, musician & luthier. I agree with Baz about his playing- guy is amazing.

If he screws up a repair so much that you have to pay to have his bad work repaired in addition to the original work you needed, he damned well ought to pay for that. If he comes through and does it, at least he's acknowledging that he didn't do the job right.

Well....he kept his word...which is something unheard of these days....used the money to pay for the fret job on my latest NR Thunderbird 8 string build.....now I just do the headstock overlay......glue the neck to the body...Almostn there....VERY happy he refunded my money.

Glad it worked out. I would have had a f*cking HEART ATTACK if that were my bass. After I punched him in the face...

Alec? Alec Baldwin? Is that you?  ;D

Seriously, at least the guy stepped up and did the right thing. That says something good about him, though I still wouldn't trust him with my basses.

A few years ago, Tom, I would have.....but....I told him EXACTLY how I felt..In a mature firm polite way.....And He stepped up to the plate. I have nothing against him...Although...I know where to take MY basses to work done.....And that is all I will ever say...Meanwhile....Can't wait for RS to finish my 1968 NR T bird II!!! In INVERNESS GREEN!!!!!!
