I wonder who was more surprised to hear Huey's name on here, us or Huey?? Nothing even close to punk on this thing. If they had gone with New Wave they would at least have gotten closer.

Would you believe the Hypstrz are still around? They're doing an in-studio tomorrow. The Batson brothers' later band, The Mighty Mofos, still plays a few times a year too.

I think I actually knew that they were still around.  What is funny is that the album that I posted was released in 2005 (?), and was actually a board recorded tape of a live show done in 1979, much like the dozens of old band tapes I had.  I don't think they ever had a real recording contract.  It's a fun album, and really captures the fun of playing live back in those days when bars were filled with people who wanted to hear music and dance.

They did have a live album about 1980, called Hypstrization, and IIRC they had an EP too. I think you're right, though, they probably never had a real recording contract.

Hypstrz are cool, not exactly punk though. More Fuzztones-esque garage IMO.
