"life is a blur of republicans and meat"- zippy the pinhead

TBird1958

I love early Montrose.........In my mind there's nothing wrong with a lot of macho swagger when you have $&!t to back it up. Deservedly Ronnie gets the credit, with Hager not far far behind - But Carmassi on the drums and Bill (the electric) Church on bass are total ass kickin' soldiers.

I met Carmassi in the '90s when he played in Heart, and gave him a lift home in my '69 Caddy after they returned from a tour - Their drum tech's wife and my ex were good friends.

My two faves from "Paper Money" Check out Church with his Acoustic rigs and the Jazz Bass on his RIGHT shoulder!

Resident T Bird playing Drag Queen www.thenastyhabits.com  "Impülsivê", the new lush fragrance as worn by the unbelievable Fräulein Rômmélle! Traces of black patent leather, Panzer grease, mahogany and model train oil mingle and combust to one sheer sensation ...

Church/Carmassi are one of my favorite rhythm sections.  It's the kind of rhythm section that just boosts up whatever guitar and vocals are happening in a song.    And, Alan Fitzgerald wasn't too shabby with Carmassi on the third album, which contains my favorite song.

That live vid is still impressive today. Nice creative bass playing too.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

T'aint Bill Church. Alan Fitzgerald (later of Night Ranger keyboard fame) plays bass on Paper Money. Church was a P-Bass / SVT guy IIRC.
Naturally, that reminds me of the joke about two Irish gay men - Gerald Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzgerald. ;D

Interesting!

I wonder who's decision that was..........Hagar must have liked him tho, since he played on at least the first of his solo efforts.

Bill "Electric" Church played on a good portion of Sammy's solo stuff, including the live album. This is a long clip but it's got the Church bass solo, and I believe Fitzgerald is on keyboards here...
