I know many of you might not care about the Beastie Boys, but they've sure made some change in music history and MCA was also (first of all) the bands bass player.

RIP.

I like the beasties. They turned hiphop into music (sometimes). Not a big fan, but they were (are?) great. And 47 is way too young for anyone to go.

The Beasties were okay and stayed together all these years. RIP Adam.

Back in '86 when they hit I didn't get it, I do now. I really loved the sound of Licensed To Ill. A great rock record if I ever heard one. 47 is way to young. RIP Adam.

They were/are one of the few groups that made rap interesting to me.  They all play instruments (Yauch was the bassist), and every once in a while they'd even break out with a punk rock or Meters/Crusaders style jam.

Their second album, , was a masterpiece as far as sample-based rap goes (IMO)

Sad news.  RIP

Sorry to hear about anyone's early passing.  Didn't like their music then, can't stand it now.

I took the family to a show last night (bad Dad, school night), and it was pretty interesting to hear the house warm up the crowd with 5 or 6 Beastie songs in a row.  The whole crowd was singing along which was surprising.  I had no idea they were that popular here in Raleigh.

BTW, Clutch came on and kicked ass.  Dan Maines, their bassist, has a beautiful sunburst Lakland sporting twin Darkstars.

I dunno, I think it's fatigue setting in.  I should have brought up something else equally irrelevant.

I didn't get it when Licensed to Ill came out - Paul's Boutique hit me at the right time (college). Check Your Head blew me away, though I never got to see them live. Began to lose interest with Ill Communication, even though it does have some great stuff. I think they probably influenced me in some way. I was wondering why everyone was posting about them on facebook the other day, went to the Beastie Boys facebook page and nothing but in the picture MCA's hair and beard were all white - I finally figured it out somehow. Reminds me now of Frank Zappa near the end of his life. I'd like to offer this up in tribute. MCA, may your grooves live on and on and on, and may you continue to preach the dharma!
