I was unaware of  a full reunion! Wow, they are coming to Germany for one solitary gig, I'll definitely go!

Europe gets a different, 4 piece lineup. No Bozzio.

Yes, unfortunate, but I guess I'll have to live with one Missing Person!

Whatever happened to his lovely wife btw? The Missing Persons always made Berlin sound like they had something to say.

I saw the reunified UK (sans Bozzio, but ably deputized for by Gary Husband) here in Germany last week.

It was an excellent concert. Jobson is a fantastic keyboard player (in all honesty perhaps the best one I have yet seen and that includes Jon Lord, Keith Emerson and Geoffrey Downes) and has real stage presence, his electric violin (always spewing dry ice to great effect!) playing is ace too, Wetton sang his hear out and played all those intricate odd-meter-break-ridden bass runs (which given how he plays with Asia and Icon these days, I frankly thought he could physically not do anymore), notwithstanding his bad picking arm and the pick taped to his thumb because he doesn't have the grip anymore. Great sound, stuff from all three UK albums plus some King Crimson tracks ("Red"-era and earlier).

I saw the show in Chicago (3 piece lineup with Bozzio), which was a last minute add, and the first of the tour. It was a Tuesday night. The first time the three of them played together in over 30 years was the previous Sunday!  :o It was a great time. Jobson is easily one of the best rock keyboardists ever, and his violin playing is awesome in its own right. Wetton's voice was great. The bass playing was understandably a little more subdued than in the old days, but solid. Didn't see the white Zon. He had his new black one all night. And of course, Bozzio was Bozzio.  ;D

Bill Bruford's percussion cage with King Crimson in the '70s didn't have as many drums, but it took up at least twice the space that Bozzio's kit does.

What exactly makes the music from the video in the original post Prog?  It doesn't sound like anything I haven't heard a billion times before from various sources over the past 30 or so odd years. Is it prog because some of the musicians playing on it at one time in their careers actually pushed the bounderies of rock music? The others (Dream Theatre, Spock's Beard, etc.) merely re till well worn musical soil all the while parading themselves as "pioneers"...the term prog has become a brand I'm afraid. Most of the new stuff sounds very safe and unadventurous to me. I'm not a fan.  Grizzly Bear is prog rock, not this bullshit. Sorry, just my opinion.

A judge when asked on how he could legally differentiate pornography from erotic art in a case barked: I know it when I see it!

Prog = You know it when you hear it.

Another good definition is that if Dave W doesn't like it, then it is most likely prog though it could be stadium rock or country influenced pop or fusion as well, you never know with him really!

Prog means to me that some instruments played have a certain sophistication and that the songs are more than just verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus. Oh yes, and the keyboarder must wear a cape. Plus the bass player doesn't play the root all the time and has a sound that can actually be heard.

If you listen to this track you know after 10 seconds that it is neither the Sex Pistols nor The Ramones who are playing this, after 11 seconds you should know it's Steve Morse because - like him or not - nobody else on earth has his sound:

And try counting out this one, I can't, though I'm pretty good with counting out most Ramones songs (of course it helps when they count in with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8!!!):

Of course, Flying Colors are poppy prog as are these guys/old warhorses:

And if that is too sissy for you, then maybe this will pacify:

You're not going to get me to click on any of these.  :P
