Only a brief snippet from a friend with an iPhone - from a double tribute show we played last weekend - a one hour Doors set followed by a one hour Stones set

That's cool Mark. That JAEbird looks great - I liked that colour when you got it.  Need to get it out in front!

I like the Doors stuff even better, it's more edgy. There is something primal and uncontrollable about the Doors' music that appeals to me. The Stones are cool but contrary to their image I never saw them as dangerous or uncontrolled.

Were you doing the Jack Bruce thing?

Brian Jones was a bad swimmer as many limeys tend to be, island folk, say no more! Ian Stewart died as if he had worked as an accountant. True, so much of Keith Richards has been repaired and replaced that it is not him anymore, but they are certainly not The Ramones nor Badfinger. Not even The Beatles or The Who.

I never found the Stones threatening, they were hedonistic, outlawish and apolitical. And well-managed. Middle class boys singing about what an allegedly poor boy can or cannot do. One look at Jagger tells you that he took good care of himself, one look at Richards that he did not but had good genes and doctors. For Chrissakes, even Macca was in jail for drugs, does that make him threatening?
