It's TV Yellow. You don't see it often on a LP Special Bass. IIRC this and the sunburst were only offered  in the first couple of years, no more than a year into the 4-knob era.

Looks a lot like my yellowburst LPB1, which I believe was a '91 or '92.  Great sounding bass.

A bit tiring for me to play for a long time though - partly due to weight, partly due to the way the balance & neck position makes it feel way longer than 34", and partly due to neck thickness.
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Here is the next generation with the Barts  & Ice Cream headstock, shown by Mark in his fun  "Blonde" younger days.

Which ones do not have the ice cream headstock thingy?  My 3-knobber does, as did the TV yellow one that started this thread.

I presume you mean the flowerpot inlay?
Basses: Epi JC Sig 20th Anniversary - Epi Les Paul Standard - Epi Korina Explorer - G&L CLF L-1000 - G&L Tribute LB-100 - Sire D5 - Reverend Triad - Harley Benton HB-50

All the 3 knobbers I've seen have the ice cream cup inlay. I don't think I've seen the later 4 knob ones with any inlay besides the Gibson logo. The newer headstocks are also slightly wider.

Oh, interesting. But - hmm, the ebay auction that Barklessdog posted above has 4 knobs and an inlay:

Ha! No kiddin. Sort of like checkerboard binding, but no full width inlays.  :P (Sorry, Ric humor)

I believe the pickups I have in the Holy Crap bass are those Barts.  I have the CGBG model, and I recall someone here telling me that these are not on the open market, but were made exclusively for Gibson.  I love the pickups, too.

I think gibson just probably had some left over necks and used them in transition?

Much like this RD with a victory headstock
