I'm glad CW is doing better and is up and about.  I'm sure he's keeping the nursing staff hopping ;)  Both his medical background and the fact that he is CW.

My wife and I took a trip to Fort Davis and Big Bend last November and she's convinced that she would like to retire there.  I reminded her that the nearest major hospital would be at least five hours away in El Paso and that a really good one would be in San Antonio.  She did admit that I had a good point.

You want to retire and get away from the rat race but when you are starting to age some of the trappings that go along with the rat race become very important

Amen, once you hit 60, good medical facilities nearby are a real plus.  After my recent experience, I'll be keeping that in mind.  You don't have to live in Timbucktu to enjoy nature and solitude.

I'm glad CW is getting good care in spite of the small town setting.

Amen.  My doctor and his hospital are 30 minutes away and that is a pain some days!  I'm realizing that our little 5 acres out in the country provides us with plenty of privacy and solitude without being totally isolated from needed services.   Now, if we could only reduce the snowfall levels every year.........

I would sell my soul to satan for 5 acres in the country!  I love upstate NY and have many good friends in the Binghamton area from 20 years of working for a company based in the area.  I will admit the winters were brutal - especially with my thin southern blood.

We're spolied on the medical front down here in Houston.  I have two major hospitals within 10 miles of my house.  The Houston Med Center is about 25 miles away as well.

It is amazing though just how good a country sawbones in a 20 bed hospital can be - I'm sure CW is getting fantastic care.

drbassman

Yep, we're pretty lucky here in Rochester to have 3 really good hospitals, a medical school at the university and good insurance companies.  As much as we get tired of the snow, the springs and summers here are wonderful and fall ain't too shabby either.  We also have the most wonderful friends and neighbors you can imagine, making it hard to think about ever leaving this area.  The real downside are the taxes and cost of living.  But, you learn to adjust and adapt.  Right now, the pluses outweigh the minuses.

I am surprised that CW is getting such good care, he's very fortunate!

Shhhhhhhhh, lol

I'm not 100% yet and spent 5 1/2 hours in the debridment table yesterday but I also had 30 grains of Oxy in me so I was in happyland. My physical therapist is wonderful. She worked on me till she was exhausted and my leg feels fine this morning.

Bro's thankyou forever for your prayers and good karma.

Bill

P.S. Do not stop good karma for the Doc. He is still in a fight just to make sure all evil is gone!!!
