I find it a little disturbing.

Oh, I understand completely. The only thing I can figure is that no matter the situation, Nazis make a good basis for evil or rotten characters because it's pretty much impossible to make them out to be any worse than they made themselves out to be in the first place.

Pretty laughable plot line but this is the kind of movie I'll watch when I have the house and netflix to myself  ;D

I'm fascinated by the continuing inclusion of Nazis in popular culture.

Same here. I don't expect a masterpiece but it is probably funny.

Easiest, most PC villain you can have at the moment. Who's going to complain when you make Nazis your bad guy? No one is going to yell racist or discrimination and nobody has to take time in the story explaining how or why they're the bad guys.

What I find even more disturbing is that a friend of mine educated me to the fact that the tradition of carrying the burning torch for the start of the Olympics is a tradition that was started by Adolf Hitler.

From what I've read that's only partially correct. There's no doubt that carrying the torch in such a manner was started under Hitler's leadership, but Hitler was opposed to the Olympics although Goebbels persuaded him to hold them. The guy who came up with the scheme of carrying the torch had been involved in international sports for years before Hitler came to power and his wife came from a Jewish family.

I was taught that the tradition of the Olympic flame came from ancient Greece?

Well, according to the experts at Wikipedia:

"Flame from the ancient games was reintroduced during the 1928 Games. An employee of the Electric Utility of Amsterdam lit the first Olympic flame in the Marathon Tower of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.
The modern convention of moving the Olympic Flame via a relay system from Greece to the Olympic venue began in 1936. Carl Diem devised the idea of the torch relay for the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin that was organized by the Nazis under the guidance of Joseph Goebbels."
