That he has documentation from Gibson's custom shop for the headstock refin. still does not make this Gene's bass. I would be surprised if it wasn't but without documentation it is still just a beat up Grabber worth only the value of the parts.

Some of the bass prices we see would be way out of line if the economy had recovered. Some expensive ones still sell, though. It's usually not for quite as much as a few years ago, but there still seem to be enough buyers out there that will pay a high price.

I don't think this one will sell at anywhere remotely near the asking price. Even if this can be confirmed as Gene's, KISS collectors aren't that crazy, are they?

godofthunder

Kiss fans are pretty nuts, If I was loaded I would be making offers. I'll stick with my almost mint  Grabber I got for $450. ;D

I think there are still fools, and many of them OLD fools, that are willing to burn their money.  It wasn't so long ago that I was watching one of the Barrett Auctions on cable, and some guy paid $41,000 for an Edsel.  It was nice looking, but....an EDSEL?????

it's not just docs for the refin but certification of his provenance. I asked him about that because I know about that too..he does have it....it is legit...

I just read the new listing, he gives much more detail about the basses history. Sounds legit, way to rich for my blood!
