I wish you all the best Bill... both my parents went through issues re this area (one unfrotunately cancer based and fatal) and one doctor described the pain to my dad as akin to what women go through during childbirth... definitely do not envy you... dad had his gall bladder removed back in the late 80's and then the remaining duct blocked again...!

Yep, my situation is similar.  Had my gallbladder out 6 years ago, all was fine.  Got a little sick in November and discovered the bile duct was partially blocked.  All of the tests have been inconclusive, but leaning to the possibility of cancer.  There's definitely something blocking my duct, so we're going in to find out and take corrective action.  Better to do this immediately than wait around.  I'm feeling positive as we think this is very early on since they can't find cancer cells, just abnormal ones that they can't really classify.

So, the surgery will be scheduled soon and I'll be out of commission for at least a couple weeks.  Recovery could also be a cupel more weeks.  My hospital is a very good one and my doc is head of surgery there.  I have probably 20 former students working there (most in high level administrative positions, my surgeon's head nurse is also a student of mine), so I get lots of personalized attention when I'm in the hospital.  There's so much to be thankful for.

I'll get online as soon as I'm able and see what you've all been up to in my absence.  Bless you all in the new year!

Good news for a change!  My wife's cousin is the Chief of Radiation Oncology at the hospital where I was to have my surgery and she wants me to go to Johns Hopkins, so she'll be trying to arrange that for us on Tuesday!  What a whirlwind.  Pray they'll take my case, I'm a low risk patient and should have good outcomes.
