Very nice.
That little bass sounds good.

Your singer is a brave woman to sing all those one dimensional male chauvinist lyrics of Coverdale
Thanks for all the kind comments, guys!

Yes, she is great. She was the lead singer of Tindrum back in the day, TNT drummer Diesel Dahl's  band. They had a sleeve of hits in the late 80's, she still sings really good.

@granny: the Jolana is the same size as a LP guitar. Unfortunately I don't  have hobbit to compare with.
I'm close to 1.80, no giant at all - although I have developed a bit of a tummy in recent years 8)

Yeah I remember that band. Ronni Le Tekrø is an amazing guitarist!

so my educational journey to get to the point where I can do a Masters in Music Therapy has taken me through a level 3(A level for us oldies) in Music Performance and a Batchelors  Degree in Music Production

I've finally got round to posting all the music I've made along the way to youtube..

First year level 3 music Production Module : two original songs in different genres. I started with a reggae piece

First year level 3 Music Production Module part 2. this started out as classic rock, then it got funky, then gothy, and finally came over all space rock, is Funky Space Rock a genre?

Second  year level 3 Recording Module: the first time I had the balls to sing lead

Second  year level 3 Main Project : An EP of original songs - I found myself in a psych rock band with a bunch of Gen-z kids who weren't even born when acid rock was a thing. If you like it the rest of the EP is on my youtube channel

Second year project,  Music Production Degree :  An EP of classic goth tunes re-imagined as Swamp Blues (again the rest of it is on my youtube channel)

for my Third year main project I couldnt decide between 3 ideas I had for fun cover versions so instead of a full album  I did a couple in each style

Bowie songs in the style of Motorhead : (Space oddity is also on youtube)

Nu Metal covers of protest songs ( For What its Worth and First we take Manhattan also on youtube )

the last one needs a bit of explaining. The Sisters of Mercy's Andrew Eldtritch has been on 2 decade long strike with his record company. he refuses to release any new music. they have written a bunch of excellent  new songs, but the only way to hear them is live. At around the time I was deciding what to do for my project someone made a flippant remark in a Sisters group about releasing the songs for him....
for extra spice I recorded it in the style of the first sisters lineup, I used samples of the drum machine they used back then, played bass like Craig Addams and my guitarist really nailed Wayne Hussey's style of 12 string guitar

a project I did in the second year saw me digging out the 4 track tapes of my demos from my band I was in in the 90's and giving them a modern production

Wow, someone's been busy! Congrats on your journey. I'm digging Parlour Trick right now.

Rob

Congrats!  These are really nicely done.

My old band Superfloor is preparing for a one-off reunion gig in october.
The band was never officially disbanded. But it just faded like a night candle.
The last time we played together must have been ten years ago I believe.
So now we're getting back together again. Which is really nice to be able to make music again with my old friends.

I haven't played much myself in the past 7 years.
So my playing got a bit rusty. But now that we've set the date for the reunion, I've been picking up the bass again.
It's all coming back ;-)

While digging in the old hard drive with songs I found a bunch of old photographs.
So I decided to make two videos.

One of the era with guitarist Frank.
And the other with guitarist Jeffrey.

The reunion gig we will play with both guitarists. Which we never did before. So that is really nice too ;-)

Superfloor in Wishbone Ash mode! Will you be doing harmony guitars so you can channel your inner Thin Lizzy?
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

I don't think Frank and Jeff are making an effort to rewrite the songs. They basically divide the guitar parts and do trade offs. For the studio albums (Check! and Kharma Baby) there usually are more than one guitar part on most of the songs. So that isn't too hard to figure out.
For the live album (Live It Up) they have been working on complimentary parts. And I do believe there will be harmonies on at least one song.

I've got a new-ish band called Doctor Crypto that is in the mixing stage of 7 new songs. This is a happy little ditty called Perfect Day. No fancy bass work, and that's fine by me.

It's got a bit of a Chicago (the band) vibe going on. :toast:

This is my stuff I've been doing for maybe two years now. Stylistically quite all over the map I think but maybe you can call it prog? At least that instrumental falls easily under that category. There's also songs like this which I did with our very own Tom Heslin:

And more ambient or trippy stuff where I usually play everything myself:

Well, ladies and gentlemen, my album is "live" on YT and elsewhere as of a couple of hours ago. Only Gibson basses were utilized...

The instrumental above is what I personally deem to be the highlight of the album, but...YMMV, as always.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and share!

Bittermoon existed from 1994 - 1999. This is the era before mobile phones. Today these are used to photograph and/or film everything that moves on stage. But back in 1997 we didn't have them. Therefor there is hardly any footage of the band. But fortunately there is a big shoebox with loads of photographs ;-)  And of course the CDs that we recorded and released back in the day.

Here is the song Still Don't Believe You. Written by Bennie Franssen. The lyrics are based on a friendship that was under quite a bit of tension because of the constant lying/fantasizing by that particular friend of Bennie.
The song is taken from the EP/CD  Run & Hide that we recorded at the Edgetip Studio in Arnhem. With none other than Gordon Groothedde behind the desk. He was making a name for himself as producer.
On backing vocals you can hear (my now wife) Floor Kraayvanger, who really shines towards the end of the song.

I still think it's a great song!

Vocal & Guitar - Bennie Franssen.
Lead Guitar - Frank van der Wiel.
Drums - Bas van de Sant.
Bass - Rob van den Broek.

Backing vocals - Floor Kraayvanger, Donna Schaap
Producer - Gordon Groothedde.
Recorded in 1997 in Edgetip Studio, Arnhem.

Good tune. Sounds very "of its time", and I mean that in a good way. Easily could have been on the radio at that time.
