For those who Spotify, our third album is up on that platform!

I use my now-sold Rivoli on Popular Unity and Summer of Love to give those tunes some grunt! Elsewhere I play guitars, piano, organ, flute, violin and glissando bass... this is our maximalist quasi-prog album we will have to row back from.

That sounds like top notch production. Did you go into a studio Alanko?
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

We did! All recorded in Edinburgh. The rhythm tracks for the oldest songs were recorded remotely (?) in a rehearsal space by mic'ing up the kit, but the rest was in the studio!

This stuff is really good. I gave it a couple of listens. Solid recording as well!

Those previews are awesome!
Being an old guy, they gave me the 1960's vibe that is real stuff to me!

Congrats!!!

So Saturday saw the release of our new song and video "Endless Whispers". I'm really happy with the way both the audio and video turned out. We have another dropping on October 3rd!

Congrats Tom. I don't think I would have recognized you with the cap and beard!

Thanks Rob! My hair has thinned out on top, and as soon as I knew there were going to be overhead drone shots, I knew I'd be wearing a hat for the video shoot.  ;D

Nice tone on the Alembic. I'm guessing there's some kind of drive involved an not just a straight clean signal.

Finally just got to listen. Great stuff! Really good mix, too. You sounded pretty perfect in the mix, with a great tone. Where did you shoot the video?

gearHed289

4stringer, yes, I use a Tech21 VT Bass stomp box for added crunch into a VT Bass DI to simulate my amp. REALLY happy with this setup. I haven't recorded with an amp for a while now.

Ken, thank you. We shot this at an old, abandoned grain mill in Plainfield, IL. We shot the next one coming out on October 3 at the same place, but on the other side of the building in daylight. It was a LONG day!

Very impressive...

I'm floored...this is so advanced...

OK, new video day! This is another long one, and takes a big turn about halfway through.

Thirty(!) years ago we recorded 10 songs in our rehearsal room with the band Bittermoon. We dragged a whole load of equipment to the moldy log cabin that was normally populated by the Boy Scouts. Our friends Bob and Rick recorded the whole thing on ADAT tapes. A kind of video tapes on which you could put multiple audio tracks. I can remember that those bitches often had trouble synchronizing.
The intention was to mix the recordings in Doesburg at Rick's EP Studio. But that turned out differently. The recordings from the log cabin turned out not to be usable (because of inexplicable hum or something?).
In the end, only the drums remained and the rest was replayed and sung in Rick's studio.
When the whole thing could finally be mixed after months of toiling and tinkering, it was decided to do it in the Beverly Beat studio in Winterswijk. I don't really remember why. I do know that it cost a lot more money than we had thought beforehand...

And as it goes when you -not hindered by any knowledge- insist on doing everything yourself, the result was actually a bit disappointing to us. In particular, one of our own favorites Back Against The Wall sounded weak and lifeless. Not in the least because in the final mix they forgot to turn on the bass drum, haha.

Now, 30 years later, we can have a good laugh about it. And thanks to current technology, the forgotten bass drum has been found 😉

So here it is: a rehabilitated version of Back Against The Wall.
Enjoy!
