« on: November 16, 2011, 08:21:43 AM »
New here!! I am in need of replacing the pots in my 1981 Gibson Victory bass.
Really wierd pots. I am posting a picture of it with the numbers and such.
I spoke with Gibson and they were absolutely no help at all!
Anything would be helpful

That must be one of the EQ pots - looks like they are dual-ganged in the schematic (and in your photo):

Its basically two pots controlled by one shaft.  The "CW" is just an indicator of where the wipers are sitting when the pot is turned fully clockwise (just to aid in connecting the outer lugs correctly).

A 100K dual-gang pot with audio taper(? ...not even sure what taper is needed there, based on the schem) might be tough to find a suitable replacement for.  You could possibly retrofit one of these, but note that they are solid shaft (not knurled to fit typical guitar knobs):

I'd do like Carlo suggests and try cleaning them.  I'm restoring an old instrument that has some impossible-to-replace pots in it (ganged pots, weird tapers, etc...), and I've had good success using Caig products to clean 'em up.  I have a blog with info here:

Gibson used some odd pots back in the day. I broke the shaft on one of the volume pots on my '76 Thunderbird and have been looking for a replacement for 3 or 4 years now. It is also 100K, but not stacked like that one. The only advice I can give is to keep checking eBay, sometimes stuff like that comes up.

Yeah, the switches are pretty hard to get hold of too - the ones that mount onto the little pcb.

Just bookmark an ebay search for gibson victory and check it every hour for the next year

Worked for me...  ;)

Here's another electronics source that I've bought from in the past.  These guys get ahold of some really neat stuff, but you have to just watch and grab it while you can.  They don't have any pots that would fit this particular application at the moment, but they do stock a bunch of odd value ganged pots... and you never know what'll pop up there.

Also, note that you can alter the taper of a pot using resistors.  This could help if you are only able to locate linear taper pots but need audio taper, or vice versa.  There's some info on how to implement tapering resistors here:
