Ah so that's what the wood is! If I chrome it out I will be sure to save the tuners and bridge. It's safe for the moment I'm broke !
Leave it be as you might have bought yourself a future collectible! My well-informed sources tell me:

"The fretboard material used on the Cherry T’bird is Preciosa. We had a limited amount left in our wood storage area. 52 units have invoiced to dealers and/or distributors. There are 9 units in transit to our Europe warehouse in Vianen Netherlands. Another 50 or so are still in production. That will pretty much be the end of the run at this point unless we see more demand and then decide to change fretboard materials since we ran out of Preciosa."

Just trying to help ;D The bass is bloody loud thats for sure!

How does the output compare to your '66 Thunderbuckers?

My 2007 Tbird IV had what I would call "wimpy" pickups, and the difference between those and my '00 Blackbird (which is loud!) was similar to what you hear on Steve's site between the '63 vs. '66 Thunderbuckers

It is difficult to say for sure as I have not done a side by side comparison  but the Cherry bird is at least as loud as my Jaebird with the '66 Thunderbuckers. Sound wise the TPplus pups have more lows, less mids and a tighter overall sound. These units have more top end sparkle than other post '89 birds I have played, older units always sounded "thuddy" to me.

I find this self imposed restraint perplexing, here we have a very collectable version of the Thunderbird and you act as if it were a Fender. Restraint is overrated.

"Restraint is overrated."

That is a compelling argument, Scott, indeed.

Does the HOG have another one?

Attorneys don't generally need a rational argument for anything.  They just work backward from their desired result. ;)
