Ever since my youth, I've had a weak spot for shapely Paulas, I'm too old to change that now ...

In pre-adolescence, the series was also helpful in learning telling women apart, here is the complete female cast and it is still relatively easy to discern Paula from Judy. Paula has more hair. On her head.

That is a nice cherry TB!  Say, what do you think of the big LP neck?  I didn't think it was bad at all.
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

I'm fine with the neck, nice proportions at least for my hands.

Completely different animals The Tbird is very light and much smaller than the LP. The LP though chambered is almost to body heavy for me (I feel the same about the Triumph bass) Both are nice basses and the LP is beautifully made. The Tbird is up a notch in quality compared to other "new" T birds I have played in the past. Sound wise I have not had the time to sit down and A-B them.
So how does it compare with the LP?

I took the cherry Tbird to rehearsal last night and all I can say is WOW! Best post '89 Thunderbird I have ever played. I don't know if they have been tweaking the pups but this bass did not have the billowing E string I have encountered on earlier models. The E string is nice and tight, open and up to the 5th fret. The bass seems to have more snap and definition might very well be it's maple, yes maple fingerboard. Since Gibsons trouble with the feds they switched to a "baked "maple for fingerboards on may instruments. Great bass I'm glad I bought it. Uwe seeing as it does have a maple board maybe one now will find it's way into your collection.  ;D

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! You fiendish Beelzebub of Thunder!!!

And they did tweak the TB Plus pups in recent years, making them even more powerful.

Come over to the Dark Side, honey, where teflon pups, black hardware and the three point roam unabatedly.

That

stays put, ok? No badassin' shenanigans either.

Nope no saw, did it once and am happy I did but it made me realize that if I want upper register access I'll just play one of my NRs. For now I am going to leave the bass alone but I most likely will do a chrome bridge and tuners, for now I'll leave the pups alone...................................for now ;D

It's Gloss.
Looks a bit like the Nikki Sixx Signature to me ... Is this satin as well or gloss?

Leave it be as you might have bought yourself a future collectible! My well-informed sources tell me:

"The fretboard material used on the Cherry T’bird is Preciosa. We had a limited amount left in our wood storage area. 52 units have invoiced to dealers and/or distributors. There are 9 units in transit to our Europe warehouse in Vianen Netherlands. Another 50 or so are still in production. That will pretty much be the end of the run at this point unless we see more demand and then decide to change fretboard materials since we ran out of Preciosa."
